Ergonomic Aids

G.O. van de Klashorst postulated: “Musicians should separate holding from moving”.

When choosing ergonomic aids, the aim for musicians is always to achieve their unrestrained freedom of expression.

Ergonomic aids open up the possibility to:

  • minimize holding work
  • adapt the instrument to the performer – instead of the performer having to to adapt to his/her instrument

Below we present some ergonomic aids that have proven their worth in dispokinetic work with musicians on the way to this freedom of expression:

  • Thumb rest for clarinets, developed by Musik Foag in collaboration with Herbert Bayer. Further information
  • Shoulder rest for violin and viola, individually adaptable, developed by Nora Niggeling-Neumann on the basis of Dispokinesis. More details on the detailed homepage www.resonora.de
